Salvation Series

Our mp3 recordings of Sunday morning sermons have had somewhat mixed results of late, so when things go south the links to the Salvation Series will be to the manuscript version. Other material, including the Wednesday night lessons on the prophets, can be found at my book blog.

Enjoy.

Todd County Christian

Our new "magazine" went out in the mail today. Look for three articles from yours truly, an expanded Bible quiz, and one of the "Gospel Minutes" from the past month.

The cover photo credit goes to Larry Wiles, an amateur photographer from Benton, Arkansas who looks like what I will probably look like in about 25 years. (Provided I shave the beard, that is. Laura says that's not happening any time soon.)

Comments welcome.

I'm playing with the blog layout, since most of the "adopted soldiers" are home now. I don't know what it should be yet, but when it gets done we'll have something.

If you came looking for sermon audio, hang tight. I'll get it up as soon as I figure out all the details.

UPDATE: It's simpler than I thought. Check back early next week.

UPDATE 2 (Wednesday afternoon): Maybe it's not so simple. Stay tuned.

UPDATE 3 (Later Wednesday afternoon): It's alive! (I think.) Download from box.net by clicking on the link on the right side of the page.

That's all for now. Blog at you soon.

A Civilian's Prayer for Soldiers

Father,

We thank You for the many, innumerable blessings You pour down upon us.

Right now, we thank You especially for those men and women who have devoted their lives to protecting those blessings.

As they find themselves facing danger, we ask You to protect them. As they find themselves separated from loved ones, we ask You to strengthen them. As they find themselves unsure about the future, we ask You to encourage them.

And as the conflicts in which they are engaged continue to rage, we ask You to intervene. Where there is war, we pray for peace. Where there is violence, we pray for reconciliation. Where there is hate, we pray for love.

We pray that the sacrifices these men and women are making will not be necessary much longer.

Through Christ, Amen.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome.

This will not be the typical blog. For now, we will use it to let people on our Iraq prayer list keep in touch with folks back home.

If you want to send a message, just post a comment. Those meant for public consumption will be made available to all. Those more private in nature will be handled accordingly.

Hopefully this will be easier, faster, and cheaper to use than cell phones or standard mail.

As needs change, so will this blog. For now, here it is. Off we go.
